2013

Chi Nguyen, Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder of Mangamedia — the predecessor of what is now Purity Studio — has been part of the company’s journey since its earliest days. In its early years, when both production capabilities and the domestic animation market were still at an emerging stage, Mangamedia took the bold initiative to connect with production companies in Japan in order to learn, strengthen its expertise, and gain exposure to advanced animation standards.

Driven by a spirit of continuous innovation and an unwavering commitment to quality, Mangamedia gradually established its capabilities through collaborations with major production partners such as MAPPA, Colori, Engi, and other respected studios. Each animation project was not merely a production milestone, but also a challenge that pushed the team to keep learning, sharpen their skills, and further strengthen their production pipeline.

Through this journey of steady growth and accumulated experience, Mangamedia gradually created breakthrough animation works that helped affirm the potential and evolving position of Vietnamese animation in the market.

Our story

2018

In 2018, Mangamedia collaborated with songwriter Hua Kim Tuyen to produce the music video If One Day I Fly to the Sky, performed by Truc Nhan. The video tells the story of a young boy who gives up his chance to undergo heart surgery so that his friend can be treated first, yet he does not live long enough to wait for the next opportunity. With its deeply emotional narrative and strong humanitarian message, the work touched the hearts of audiences both in Vietnam and abroad.

2019- 2023

Over the course of its development, Mangamedia has collaborated with leading brands such as Vinamilk, Coca-Cola, Enat, and Garena, as well as artists including Nguyen Ha and Nguyen Khang, to create a diverse range of animation and comic projects for the Vietnamese market.

2024

After years of growth and experience, Chi Nguyen has never let go of the dream of creating animated films rooted in traditional moral values and a distinct creative identity. The ambition to produce high-quality animation has remained a constant driving force throughout this journey. In 2024, with the rapid rise of artificial intelligence, Chi Nguyen recognized a new opportunity to bring that vision further to life and officially set out to build an original animation universe of her own.

The Journey of Creating a Work

Every project begins with the seed of an idea. From the very first hand-drawn sketches, I develop the story structure, build the world, shape the characters, and define the visual spirit that guides the entire production.

The rise of artificial intelligence has opened up a new mode of production, where ideas can be explored, expanded, and transformed faster than ever before. On that foundation, I design prompt systems tailored to each layer of content, select the right AI tools for each creative objective, and oversee the entire process to ensure consistency in both quality and emotional impact.

From imagery, environments, and motion to storytelling rhythm, AI has become an integral part of the modern creative process — yet the core value still lies in human vision and thought. It is this combination of practical experience, storytelling ability, and emerging technology that has enabled me to gradually create animation works with a distinct identity, rich visual language, and meaningful depth.
